Ceramics I
When: Wednesday nights 6-9 p.m., 15 sessions. Offered Fall.

Basic wheel and hand-building techniques, glazing, firing in high-fire and pit-fire kilns will be covered. Beginning students will be introduced to plate, bowl, and cylindrical forms on the wheel, and hand-building techniques such as pinching, coiling, and a variety of slab-building approaches.. Each week there will be several demonstrations both in hand-building and wheel techniques, plus students are encouraged to follow their own curiosity. At the end of the semester, when the pots come out of the kiln, we gather for a celebratory pot-luck dinner, and eat from our own creations. In addition to class hours students are required to come in to practice on their own Fridays & Saturdays from 10-5.
