Brattleboro Clay Works
Alan Steinberg

January 10-17, 2011

Join clay artist Alan Steinberg and writer Fred Taylor for a relaxing and inspirational week of writing and clay sculpting in response to the intense beauty of the Caribbean tropical paradise – St. John, U.S. Virgin Islands.

Indulge yourself under the renewing powers of warm sun, walk pristine white sand beaches and float luxuriously in turquoise blue waters.

Rest in the shade with pen and paper in hand, as cool trade winds bend the fronds of coconut palms and magnificent frigate birds soar effortlessly overhead.

Hike to petroglyphs and ruins through deep woods of the National Park under strangler figs and kapok trees, while geckos scurry underfoot and bananaquits call in the canopy.

Ramble past cacti and century plants to craggy volcanic promontories with views across the water to distant islands.

Snorkel gin-clear waters, floating effortlessly above coral labyrinths, face to face with hawksbill turtles and brilliantly hued tangs and parrot-fish.

Ground your spiritual connection to coral, rock and root, to flipper, fin and feather, as forms emerge by hand through the tactile earthiness of clay.
